      Madrid, 10 March 2024.- The International Contemporary Art Fair, ARCOmadrid 2024, organized by IFEMA MADRID, closes is doors this afternoon to the 43rd edition with a positive outcome and a good commercial pace. The trust the galleries have placed in the fair is reflected in the content of the highest quality, which have attracted national and international collectors of great drive beyond the days reserved for professionals. Likewise, professionals and the public have also celebrated the excellent artistic programs presented this year.

      ARCO, and the city of Madrid, gain weight and recognition in the current international art scene, and are confirmed as a key event for the art market in Spain, and as a meeting point and exchange point between Europe and Latin America.

      ARCOmadrid, which this year has once again had the commitment of the Royal Family with the presence last 6 March of the King and Queen of Spain in the opening of the event, estimated to exceed 95,000 visitors. Likewise, the level of professional attendance which has mobilized the presence of around 38,000 professionals from all over the world, has been highlighted.

      The International Contemporary Art Fair has in this edition had the participation from 205 galleries from 36 countries, close to 400 international collectors and 200 invited professionals from 40 countries.

      ARCOmadrid 2024 Acquisitions

      Following on from the first days exclusively dedicated to collectors and professionals, ARCOmadrid has recorded important institutional and corporate acquisitions, including those of Fundación ARCO; Museo Reina Sofía; Community of Madrid; Madrid City Council; lFundación María Cristina Masaveu Peterson; Fundación Helga de Alvear; Fundación María José Jove, among many others (access these acquisitions).

      ARCOmadrid Awards

      National and international institutions and companies share support and recognition for artistic creation in ARCOmadrid, by sponsoring art awards.

      On this basis, the Argentinian gallery W – GALLERY, with artwork by Chonon Bensho and Florencia Sadir, has been awarded the Lexus Award for Best Stand and Artistic content in ARCOmadrid 2024.

      The Fondazione per l'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea CRT has also announced that Tomás Saraceno (Pinksummer Gallery) and Abraham González Pacheco (Galería Campeche), are the winners of the first Acquisition Award at ARCOmadrid.

      In turn, the artist from Pamplona, Fermín Jiménez Landa, (ángels barceló), has won the 8th Cervezas Alhambra Emerging Art Award for his work Almuerzo solar, created together with the artisan Encarnita Berrio.

      The illy SustainArt Award, dedicated to the patronage of promising young artists in Contemporary Art, has been awarded to the Madrid artist Mónica Mays, represented by the Swiss gallery Blue Velvet. The winning work, “En la palma de sus manos” (In the palm of your hands), stands out for its combination of elements from the industrial world and the natural world.

      The 19th ARCO/BEEP Electronic Art Prize 2024, awarded in collaboration with the Arts Connection Foundation, has been granted to Daniel Canogar for his work "Scrawl" (2023), exhibited at the Max Estrella gallery, and to Peter Halley for his work "Exploding Cell" (1983) at the Senda gallery. With these two artists and award-winning works, La.NewAr makes its firm commitment to contemporary art and aesthetic-technological developments. Its collection is enriched by these two additions.

      The artist Concha Jerez, represented by the Freijo gallery, has been awarded the 1st ENATE-ARCOmadrid 2024 Award.

      The Argentinian galleries Remota and Piedras have won the 10th Opening Award for the best stand in this section. In addition, the Sissi Club gallery, from France, has achieved a special mention for its project.

      Likewise, the Catalina d' Anglade Award has been awarded on this occasion to the work Kapokier (1997), by Susana Solano, an artist from the Carreras Múgica gallery in Bilbao. Her work manifests the freedom to contemplate art, without the need to explain it or find any logic in it.
