展会报告(Show Reports):
ORGATEC TOKYO 2025 took place from 3 to 5 June at Tokyo Big Sight’s South Halls 1– 4. Now in its fourth edition, the event welcomed approximately 160 leading brands from Japan and abroad, attracting around 45,000 visitors, an increase from the previous edition. Further cementing its status as Asia’s key platform for workplace design, the exhibition once again left a powerful impression on the industry. Building upon the ongoing theme of “SHIFT DESIGN,” this year introduced a new conceptual axis: BORDERLESS – Office, My Way. Moving beyond the idea of simply expanding “where we work”, the theme proposed a future in which office spaces evolve to embrace personal identities — flexible, diverse, and deeply human-centred. Softness and comfort, once the domain of home interiors, are increasingly integrated into office environments, where the very act of working becomes more sensory and more individual. Offices must now give employees compelling reasons to choose them over working remotely or in hybrid setups. In response, this year’s exhibition presented a vision of the workplace as a “place you want to be” — a notion that resonated strongly with attendees.
The venue layout enhanced visitor circulation by utilizing both upper and lower floors. In particular, the upper floor featured dimmed hall lighting, allowing each booth's lighting design to create a unique atmosphere. This approach created a multisensory, immersive experience that left a lasting impression. For the first time, staging techniques from our home event in Cologne were fully applied in Tokyo — a move that drew considerable attention.
Koji Minato, President & Representative Director of Platinum Sponsor ITOKI CORPORATION, remarked: “At this year’s ORGATEC TOKYO, I saw many fashionably dressed visitors. Their presence felt symbolic of the growing importance of design in the creation of offices. It was also striking to see an increase in exhibitors from a wide range of backgrounds, not limited to only traditional office furniture manufacturers. I hope that this broadening of perspectives will further invigorate the industry.”
In the Xperience Area, a diverse line-up of speakers from the forefront of spatial and architectural practice delivered a series of thought-provoking seminars. The opening session featured Yuri Naruse and Jun Inokuma of NARUSE・INOKUMA ARCHITECTS, who spoke on the theme of ‘What Kind of Office Spaces Deliver True Wellbeing?’ examining how architecture influences comfort and engagement. At the Trend Forum, London-based architectural scholar Dr Claude Dutson gave a presentation exploring how the experimental spirit of early Silicon Valley continues to influence today’s corporate campuses. In another session, the editor-in-chief of ELLE DECOR Japan and a dialogue format.
The ORGATEC TOKYO Awards recognized excellence in spatial design and craftsmanship. Rooted in the “SHIFT DESIGN” concept, this year’s jury placed emphasis on how brands succeeded in giving spatial form to their conceptual visions. The awards called not only for visual beauty, but also message-driven design and the power of immersive, sensory engagement. This year as well, numerous displays that leave lasting impressions were created.
The next edition of ORGATEC TOKYO is scheduled to take place from Tuesday, 2 June to Thursday, 4 June 2026 at Tokyo Big Sight, South Halls 1, 2, 3, and 4.
