      HAM RADIO

(Show Reports):

      Enthusiasm for technology, tinkering and craftsmanship connect radio enthusiasts from all over the world. They came together at the exhibition center in Friedrichshafen from June 24th to 26th to meet in person, celebrate the reunion and update their equipment. "We are back! After a two-year break, Ham Radio has set a strong example and rekindled the Ham spirit. The exhibitors who presented themselves here were able to conclude or initiate very good business. It has been shown once again that the trade fair is the most important buying and trading point for those interested in radio in Europe. Together with our ideal partner, the German Amateur Radio Club (DARC e.V.), we have put together a top-class trade fair with a varied supporting program," summarized Klaus Wellmann and Project Manager Petra Rathgeber. Ham Radio attracted 10,200 people interested in amateur radio (2019: 14,300) from 52 countries over the three days of the fair.

      A wealth of ideas, creativity and an affinity for technology filled the air in the exhibition halls. 394 participants - including 129 commercial exhibitors and associations as well as 265 flea market exhibitors from 27 countries - awaited the amateur radio community at their reunion on the exhibition grounds. From radios and transceivers to antennas, everything was there that a radio operator's heart could desire. The flea market had a number of treasures in store for resourceful radio enthusiasts. A highlight was the varied and exciting supporting program of DARC e.V. "After the break, the trade fair completely exceeded our expectations. With our motto "A reunion with friends" we hit the mark. With our high-quality lecture program, we were once again able to show how much know-how and specialist knowledge we, volunteer radio amateurs, have. The Ham Radio creates this unique space for personal encounters and is therefore indispensable for us as a promoter of amateur radio. A particularly great success for us was the cooperation between the association Notfunk Bodensee, Airbus and DARC e.V.. Together we laid the foundation for the regional emergency radio groups at the trade fair and in the near future we will be launching a nationwide concept for emergency communication", emphasize Stephanie Heine, the press officer of the DARC e.V., and Christian Entsfellner, the DARC chairman.

      In the discussions, many exhibiting companies reported that the trade fair was going well. Hans Hilberling from Hilberling GmbH, for example, says: “Ham Radio is the most important trading and contact point for us, we saw many familiar and also new faces at our stand. We've been coming here for 15 years, so the trade fair was a must-attend event again this year. We are glad that the fair is taking place again after the two-year break and that we were able to celebrate seeing friends again here." Christian Jansen from CJ-Elektronik GmbH: "The mood at Ham Radio was good, we are positively surprised. In the run-up to the trade fair, we heard that some larger exhibitors had canceled and were therefore very curious to see how this would affect the flow of visitors. We made very good sales and quite apart from the financial aspect, it was also important from an idealistic point of view to be here. The visitors were happy that the trade fair took place again, what more could you ask for?” Frank Dathe from Funktechnik Dathe sees it similarly: “The number of visitors at our stand was slightly larger this year than at the previous edition. With its supporting program and the many opportunities to meet in person, Ham Radio has an incomparable overall package to offer. It was the right decision to come here and we will be there again next year!” Richard Joachims, Managing Director of Joachims HF & EDVberatungs GmbH, sums up: “The interest in our range was outstanding. We are very happy with the way Ham Radio went. Thanks to the visitors who were willing to buy, many products were sold out after a short time. Our expectations were absolutely exceeded. We are already looking forward to the new edition in 2023!”

      The next Ham Radio will be broadcast again from June 23rd to 25th, 2023 in Friedrichshafen.
