      展会报告(Show Reports):

      A successful restart: five days, around 950 exhibiting companies from 27 countries and lots of innovations, trends and solutions from the industry, for the industry – that was INTERNORGA 2022. After three years, the leading international trade fair for the entire foodservice and hospitality market experienced a wonderful reunion in the Hamburg Messehallen trade fair halls from 30 April to 4 May. All the visitors and exhibitors were enthusiastic about the numerous opportunities for networking, interaction and experimentation and have set the course for successful future business with their visit to the trade fair.

      These are still challenging times in the hospitality sector – supply chains are disrupted, purchase prices are rising, and staff shortages are greater than ever before. That makes the positive signal that INTERNORGA has sent to the industry this year all the more important. Six weeks later than originally planned, the trade fair has come to an end with a lot of encouragement and a positive atmosphere in all the exhibition halls.

      ‘We are incredibly happy and also very proud that INTERNORGA is finally back where it belongs and was able to offer the entire foodservice and hospitality market this highly important and valuable platform and stage,’ says Bernd Aufderheide, Chairman of the Management Board of Hamburg Messe und Congress, in summary. Everyone involved was aware that 2022 would be a different trade fair than they were used to from previous years, he said. ‘However, one thing has now become even clearer: meeting people, the interactions, the networking and, above all, the testing, tasting and feeling cannot be digitised in this sensory industry, and that is no bad thing. The leading trade fair has an innovative character, and current trending topics were picked up on and conveyed to the audience. The result is satisfied participants on all sides.’

      Christian Strootmann, Chairman of the INTERNORGA Trade Fair Advisory Board and Managing Director at United Tables, can also look back on five successful days at the trade fair: ‘I am happy that we can chalk up INTERNORGA as a good and positive experience, even on unusual dates in May under challenging conditions. It is clear that we could not expect everything to be as it was during normal times and circumstances. In the new reality, however, it was very good from the point of view of all exhibitors for INTERNORGA to take place. The level of quality of the visitors was high.’

      Focus on the trending topics of digitalisation and packaging and delivery

      INTERNORGA has adapted structurally and thematically to the challenges of the current time, and the revised hall structure made it possible to create cross-thematic synergies between all stakeholders. At the same time, in addition to the well-known exhibition areas, the focus this year was on two major topics that have gained central importance for the entire foodservice and hospitality market. On the one hand, the trade fair dedicated a new exhibition area to the trending topic of ‘Packaging and Delivery’, which brought together sustainable packaging solutions and delivery service offerings in one place. On the other hand, ‘Digitisation’, a key topic for the future, was presented in a hall of its own for the first time, in order to exhibit digital solutions to meet the increasingly tough demands of guests, the growing shortage of skilled workers and the requirement for more flexibility among restaurateurs and hoteliers.

      High-calibre congresses with top speakers and 2,000 participants

      The accompanying congress programme was enjoyed by a total of almost 2,000 participants. Well-known scientists, consultants and experts from the industry spoke at the 40th International Foodservice Forum and the German catering congress. They provided decision-makers with valuable insights and fresh impetus for the rapidly changing foodservice and hospitality market.

      Other highlights included the presentation of the 11th INTERNORGA Future Award for forward-looking and sustainable catering and technology concepts as well as the final of the Deutscher Gastro-Gründerpreis for innovative start-ups.

      INTERNORGA visitors are impressed

      For five days, INTERNORGA in Hamburg was the meeting point for the who’s who of the entire foodservice and hospitality market. As expected, the pandemic-related postponement of the trade fair, pushing it into the start of the busy season in the restaurant and hotel industries at the beginning of May, and the personnel shortages in the companies involved had a noticeable impact on the number of visitors, although that did not detract from the atmosphere and the positive mood in the trade fair halls. On the contrary: 81% of the approximately 48,000 visitors rate the leading trade fair as very good to good, while 87% would recommend it to others. The proportion of decision-makers present has risen to 91% and the proportion of first-time visitors to 35% – according to the survey results of an independent market research institute. The internationality of the audience is also at a consistently high level of 9%. That is why INTERNORGA is classified by the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA) as the only international trade fair for catering and the hotel industry in Germany.

      The next INTERNORGA will take place from 10–14 March 2023 in Hamburg.
